About the campaign
As the small droplets from people infected with COVID-19 continue to spread and wreak havoc throughout our interconnected world, ACT Tanzania has added this virus to the list of diseases we educate about in rural Tanzania in particular and East Africa in general. With the world in the middle of this pandemic, our work is more important than ever!
From the beginning, ACT Tanzania was in a unique position to help battle COVID-19 in that we had over seven years of experience educating about the importance of disease prevention through behavioral change. We have helped the Tanzanian health authorities fight disease outbreaks in the past, and today we are doing it again! In cooperation with local health officials and community stakeholders, we are using our already established capacity to spread the word quickly and efficiently to tens of thousands through radio shows, hotlines, public service announcements, educational flyers, and last, but not least, SOCIAL MEDIA.
Generous donations from our COVID-19 campaign raised $4,750 that was subsequently matched by a long-time donor. The money enabled us to expand our social media outreach to millions of East Africans with lifesaving education in both English and Swahili. Since March 20, we have spent $7,500 on paid advertising on social media and reached tens of millions of East Africans on Facebook and Instagram with factual and relevant disease prevention information.
Please use the donate button on our homepage to support our ongoing efforts to minimize the impact of COVID-19 on one of the world’s most vulnerable populations and healthcare system during this critical time!
In gratitude,
ACT Tanzania
